Parents and caregivers of kids from birth to age 12 are invited to attend the FREE Parent Expo on Saturday, Feb 18, 2012 8:30am to 1:15pm at Trinity Lutheran Church (801 S. Madison St., Bloomington, IL). You can attend one or more FREE parent education sessions and learn about community resources during this family-centered day, just for parents. -

Salsa Dancing will resume on January 20th from 8:30PM till 12:30AM at the Contemporary Art Center.
Beginners & intermediate Salsa classes start on January 25th for the Peoria Park District. You must call them to register. Wednesday evenings.

Come brush up on your Spanish, or help someone else improve theirs, by joining Peoria Hispanics at their weekly Charlas en Español (a.k.a. Spanish Conversation Hour) cohosted by the Peoria Public Library. People at all levels are encouraged to come and practice Spanish. We will have light refreshments and will be showing guests how to use the Library’s Language Learning Program called MANGO.

The Immigration Project‘s monthly Citizenship Information Meeting (CIM) will be held Saturday, December 3rd, 2011, at the home office in Bloomington.
There is NO obligation, and our citizenship services, backed by immigration attorneys, are at no charge to the applicant, thanks to grants we receive from the New Americans Initiative (Illinois Department of Human Services). The only cost to the applicant is $10.00 to cover postage costs.
Those interested will learn what is required to apply, including ongoing legal obligations required of Legal Permanent Residents, how long the process takes, what exemptions are available, including the Fee Waiver.
No need to call for an appointment – just come!
The next CIM will be Saturday, January 14th, 2:00 – 3:15.
The West Bloomington Youth Soccer League will have a registration activity THIS Sunday, 4 December at the Lawrence Irvin Community Center from 4 PM – 6 PM.
The Book Bike will be at the event to give books away to program participants. A fire truck will also be on-site for the kids.
Volunteers are welcome - set-up will begin at 3 PM. Please contact Sal Valadez if you would like to volunteer.
