The Event will take place on Friday, December 2nd at Cedar Ridge Elementary School from 5:00 pm – 9:30pm. Food will be served at 6:00pm. There will be piñatas and games for the children as well as live Latin Music.

Please RSVP here with the number of guest who will be joining you. Also, we ask for those who will be joining us if you could please bring a dish or dessert to share our other guest.

State Farm Bank will be hosting a Financial Town Hall meeting (Mejore Sus Finanzas) at Cedar Ridge Elementary School (Saturday October 29th). 

Doors will open at 10:00 AM and breakfast will be provided for all attendees, the panelist discussion will begin at 11:30 AM.  We want to invite local community organizations to set up resource tables to provide information or upcoming events for Hispanic families. 

 Agenda:

10:00 AM                             Doors Open (Organizations arrive to set up tables)

10:30 AM – 11:20 AM     Breakfast being served (All attendees, including organization members are invited to eat)

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM      Panel Discussion (Financial Town Hall begins)

12:30 PM – 1:30 PM        Families can visit community organizations booth to gather information

(set-up begins at 4:30pm)

The resource fair will be in conjunction with the Cedar Ridge Back To School Night event, an opportunity for students (and their families) to find their new classroom, put items in their desks, and organize their lockers. This event is usually very well attended.

The Community Resource Fair is a first-step toward introducing our Cedar Ridge families to the programs and services that your agency has to offer.

Cedar Ridge Elementary has just about 500 students, including a significant number of families whose primary language is Spanish. (about 30%) About 70% of Cedar Ridge children qualify for low-income assistance.

To help families connect with your agency, we suggest you provide handouts, event calendars, and giveaways that encourage family-based participation in agency programs. This event will present an opportunity for you to publicize to the community the services that you offer. There is NO fee to participate. We only ask that your booth be set up by 5pm and that you stay through the end of the evening: 7:30pm.

The Cedar Ridge Promise Council will provide a six foot table, an agency sign, and two chairs. We may be able to provide electricity upon request. Please complete the attached Vendor Reservation Form and fax or email it back by Friday, August 12th. (309) 888-5543 /fax

Teach Wizards Program Information

What is happening: We have a new afterschool program starting at Cedar Ridge (based on Technology and Mentoring)

Who: At risk youth aged 8-17

Cost: Free

We need to register families for this new program, which is sure to be very beneficial for these youth.  However, as you know Cedar Ridge Elementary has a large Latino population. So we are looking for volunteers who speak Spanish to help us enroll families at Cedar Ridge on Tuesday March 29th

 

Volunteer Information

Where:  Cedar Ridge Elementary 2808 Breezewood Blvd, Bloomington.  It is off of South Main St, south of State Farm Park. Turn left at Woodrig Road, and right onto Breezewood (you can see the school from Main street).

What we need:  We need volunteers who speak and read Spanish to volunteer to register these new families

When: Tuesday March 29th

Time:  5:30pm( for volunteers to learn how to register families)

Time:  6:00pm families arrive and start the registration process
