State Farm Bank(R) in collaboration with Conexiones Latinas, Heartland Community College, and Western Ave Community Center will be hosting an open Q&A discussion with a local bilingual panel of financial and academic experts on financing and supporting your child’s education.
The professionals and alumni on the panel will speak on the fundamentals of preparing and planning for students (kindergarten to high school) succeed in school and pay for college. Parents and students will be able to ask any question they have on graduation, college prep, financing college, scholarships, reading levels, etc. Adults in attendance will be eligible to win a $50 gift card from State Farm Bank (certain restrictions apply).

Come have a great happy hour party with Music (Frontera, popular local Latin band), Margaritas, and Mexican tamales and contribute to The Immigration Project. They are a nonprofit organization that offers free legal services to immigrants in the areas of citizenship, domestic violence, and family reunification. These immigrants generally have no other recourse for these important services!

State Farm Bank will be hosting a Financial Town Hall meeting (Mejore Sus Finanzas) at Cedar Ridge Elementary School (Saturday October 29th).
Doors will open at 10:00 AM and breakfast will be provided for all attendees, the panelist discussion will begin at 11:30 AM. We want to invite local community organizations to set up resource tables to provide information or upcoming events for Hispanic families.

The American Red Cross of the Heartland will be holding two blood drives that specifically reach out to the Latino Community. Research has shown that a large percentage of Latinos in the United States have type O blood, universal donor. However, only 4% of Latinos give blood. By making these blood drives Latino-friendly with a bilingual staff, the Red Cross of the Heartland is looking to change this statistic. Nevertheless, this is not exclusive to Latinos; all are welcome to come and give blood.
The first blood drive will be held on Monday, July 25th, at The Arbors at Eastland Apartments [208 S. Prospect Road, Bloomington, IL 61704] from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
The second will be held on Friday July 29th at Western Avenue Community Center [600 N. Western Avenue, Bloomington, IL 61701] from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
